Heritage Skills education

West Suffolk College Construction students learn how to use traditional tree to timber carpentry tools.

They discovered that our two person cross cut saw was very effective at cutting lengths of Sweet Chestnut logs which they also learnt how to split and make into battens for our Long House roof.

Using the two person saw also provided a good green gym workout and a big lesson in co-ordination, collaboration and communication.

Pull. Don't push!

It was a very constructive two days of practical training for 23 students.

Thank-you to Bury Town Trust for sponsoring these Heritage Construction skills days.
