Practical course working in a
small group to progress your timber framing skills. The 'practice
piece' is the reinstatement of a 1580 timber frame. Some carpentry
experience is
needed. These three days are perfect for improvers,
home-owners, conservation officers, architects,
carpenters, builders, engineers, and anyone with a love of traditional
timber framing who wants to get more involved in the practical
carpentry of a big timber frame.
Signing up for this course at
Orchard Barn will enable you
to practice your skills and gain
confidence whilst making a real difference to OBee
CIC's restoration project.
In March 2017 planning permission was granted for the reinstatement of
the ruined Suffolk Long House at Orchard
Barn. The
reinstatement in a 'like for like'
manner uses local trees,
traditional techniques, tools and a collaborative approach to working
together.
