Make a folding saw horse from cleft timber

If you want to use your saw effectively, you need to hold your log securely at the right height: you need a saw-horse!

On this one-day course, you will learn how to make one, cleaving logs in a controlled manner, then hewing and shaving them to size and shape to make the parts you need.

Your saw-horse will be sturdy enough to support medium-sized logs at a comfortable height for sawing but light enough for one person to carry, and, if you get the measurements right, small enough, when folded, to go in the back of your car.

No previous woodwork experience is required and all tools and materials will be provided. If you want to take your saw-horse home, there will be a small charge of 10 for materials.

Remember Orchard Barn is entirely off-grid, so bring a flask and a packed lunch and be prepared to embrace the off-grid ethos of this unique and magical place!
