Sarah Partridge - Co-founder and Centre Manager of Orchard Barn, Courses Facilitator, Director of OBee CIC, Natural Builder, Project Manager, Shingle Maker and Fitter, Sustainability Consultant, Teacher, Workshop Designer, Yoga Practitioner

My concern for the environment goes way back. In the early 1980's I was spearheading the development of Organics in East Anglia. Not content with growing and selling a huge range of Soil Association fruit and vegetables, I went that extra mile to ensure the hens and goats were fed organically certified grain and that the eggs, milk, yoghurt and cheese also carried the Soil Association label.

These days I am keen to promote the use of locally sourced building materials and the development of low-tech community projects. I am keen to join the dots between people and building and only use materials that are 100% recyclable with known provenance. I guess you could say that I'm passionate about home-grown buildings and the utilisation of human energy to reduce our impact on the environment.

What have I done between organic growing and natural building? Well, I obtained my degree as a mature student, and an MA in Education and Professional Development as an even more mature learner!

My dissertation in 2000 was focussed on Nature as Educator - the celebration of seasonality, elements and our interaction with them. What my studies and work have taught me is the power of working with the natural environment. We can't control Nature, but we can learn to respect and work with Her.

Starting a new project? Want to progress your community project?

I can work with you to develop your ideas and look at creative ways to help you manifest your dreams.

I've got decades of community building, living a natural lifestyle, rural crafts, self-sufficiency and restoration behind me. I invite you to learn from what I have found works and avoid some of the mistakes I've made along the way! I make things happen on a very small budget and can help you with tips and guidance that work.

I also have experience of sourcing natural building materials from the local landscape and turning challenges into learning opportunities. I love to work with volunteers, and utilise small scale construction projects to build community.

Click the link below to see a video of the Breaking New Ground heritage skills project I managed called Brecks Building Skills and please feel free to contact me to discuss ideas you'd like to progress.

Life is short! Dream big, reach out and let me help you get moving with your goals ..... Call me now on 07766-054042 or email sarah@orchardbarn.org.uk
